Fixing the Male Libido

If you’ve found your sex drive plummeting then maybe you’re wondering exactly what you can do to fix it, or if you can do anything at all. The good news is that there are several ways to improve your libido, though you might really want to try and figure out exactly what’s wrong with your libido that’s causing it to diminish in the first place.

Regardless, let’s take a quick look at some of the fixes to boost your testosterone levels and increase your libido.

One good way to start increasing your testosterone levels is to exercise, specifically weight lifting that exercises several muscle groups at once. The actual exercise itself will help to increase your testosterone levels, but there’s another benefit. If you’re really overweight then your estrogen levels will be high; this can cause your testosterone levels to drop.

Weight lifting will help to burn off some of that weight and to increase muscle mass which will burn off even more of the weight. Taking off the weight will drop the estrogen levels back down and help boost your testosterone levels.

Another way to work on boosting your testosterone levels can be what you’re actually eating. Peanuts as a snack has shown to increase testosterone levels in men. Not really sure what the cause-effect relationship is there, but if you aren’t allergic to peanuts it’s worth a shot. Another thing is maintaining about a 30% level of fat in your diet.

Your body needs that fat to burn and produce testosterone so depriving it of that fat might just cut how much testosterone your body is able to produce. Less testosterone means a lower libido, so watch that dietary intake. And make sure you don’t go skipping meals or take long periods of time without eating. If you don’t eat often enough your body thinks it’s starting and goes into energy conservation mode. It’ll cut testosterone production levels and kill your libido so make sure you eat regularly.

Another simple thing you can do to help out your libido is to watch how much alcohol you’re drinking. If you’re fairly moderate with your drinking you should be just fine, but too much alcohol can push down your endocrine system and testosterone production. If you’re drinking a bit more than you should,  you know if you are, then watching your drinking is an effective step here.

On the other hand, drinking water and making sure that you’re properly hydrated will help your body keep up with its production needs, so it all depends what you drink.
